Transitional Employment is the fountainhouse’s own work training program. It consists of tariffed paid part time employment in local businesses-
Fountainhouse Harstad reaches out to potential employers and develops positions up to 50%, consisting of task that most of our members can perform. These positions are then available for our members.
The goal is that each individual member has an opportunity to work in an actual job with an actual employer earing their own money. And dealing with all the rewards and challenges that comes with being a part of the workforce.
Any one member can hold a position for 6 to 9 months. Typical employment may include simple office tasks, mailroom, receptionist, food service, cash register, food preparation, cleaning or simple production or assistant tasks.
The fountainhouse selects members for a position and support the member and they employer in the transitional period. The main criteria for being selected for a transitional employment position is the members own motivation for entering the workforce.
One thing that separates Transitional Employment from other work placement programs is that the employer never experiences absences. The fountainhouse will supply a substitute in the case of medical leave or absences. This is not only for the benefit of the employer, but also reduces pressure for members who have had experiences with defeats and failures in their previous attempts to enter the labor force, and makes it easier for those to give themselves a chance at succeeding.
Fountainhouse Harstad are planning to start their Transitional Employment Program in 2018
